Laser Pointers, Boys and Cats

Last week-end, we had a Father's Day Cookout... No, actually, it was our lazy attempt at the same thing. We didn't go to the lake, we didn't go camping, we didn't leave our air conditioning... we just sort of sat round the living room and drank beer. We did try to set the balcony on fire, though, and my husband decided that shooting a hole in the floor was called for. Then I broke two dishes in one go, and... then we got bored.
My brother-in-law really likes to make the cats chase the laser pointer. I figure, since Petsmart sells them, they can't be too bad.
Well.
Apparently, small Boys also like to chase them. Yes, that's right, we used a laser pointer to entertain the Boy. He kept saying, "can't get it. I can't reach it."
We we howling with laughter.
Then, because it's funny when the cats jump up the wall, we tried it with the Boy.
Just envision it. It's good for a laugh.

On another note...
Apparently, the cell walls of mushrooms are made of something called chitin... which is also the same thing as an insect's exoskeleton. Tasty.
